Trusted publishers for my research: decoding good practices & overcoming predatory publishers

This training material has been developed under the scope of the PATTERN project to support researchers in navigating the complex landscape of scholarly publishing. The course focuses on helping learners assess journals and publishers, identify predatory publishing practices, and select credible venues for disseminating their research outputs. Through interactive discussion and guided exploration, participants will become familiar with practical tools and evaluation criteria for making informed decisions about where to publish.

This is a trainer's guide with digital context for a 2-hour face-to-face session that introduces key concepts in responsible publishing, including how to evaluate journals based on transparency, quality standards, and ethical practices.  A recommended prerequisite is the self-paced course “Open Access publishing: overcoming the challenges and busting the myths.

This material has also been translated in Turkish language.
