      Welcome to the self-paced Open Access Publishing course designed to empower researchers by teaching them to retain copyright and maximize the impact of their research through open access. This comprehensive course includes a variety of resources such as session plans and interactive activities tailored for individual learning. As you progress, actively engage with the materials and apply what you've learned in practical exercises. To successfully complete the course and earn your certificate, you must pass the final quiz with at least an 80% success rate, ensuring you have mastered the essential concepts and applications of open access publishing.       Training Goals

      In this session, the learners should be able to:

      • Understand the basic concepts and importance of Open Access publishing.
      • Identify the different routes of Open Access: Gold, Green, and Diamond.
      • Recognize the motivations behind Open Access and its implications for the research community.

      Course Structure

      The course is structured into three main sections, each lasting approximately 40 minutes:

      1. Introduction to Open Access: Overview of OA principles and the historical context.
      2. Exploring OA Routes: Detailed examination of Gold, Green, and Diamond OA, including case studies.
      3. Author Rights and Benefits: Discussion on how OA enhances visibility and impact of research, along with a guide to managing author rights.
