Find out more about this session

1. What is the main focus of this session?expand collapse

This session introduces participants to OpenAIRE CONNECT, a powerful service designed to help research communities, universities, and infrastructures showcase, monitor, and promote Open Science practices. Through real-world examples and guided exploration, participants will understand how CONNECT can support both institutional and thematic communities in implementing Open Science in a visible and measurable way.

2. Who is this session designed for?expand collapse

The session is ideal for data stewards, research managers, and researchers who are involved in Open Science implementation, community coordination, or institutional reporting. Whether you're part of a university alliance, a research infrastructure, or a project consortium, this session will help you better connect your outputs to the broader Open Science ecosystem.

3. What will participants learn or gain from the session?expand collapse

Participants will learn how to: a. Use CONNECT Gateways to highlight and assess the Open Science performance of a research community or institution b. Enable researchers to comply with Open Science policies using personalized, curated gateways c. Understand the added value of CONNECT in driving visibility, engagement, and reuse of research outputs across repositories and platforms. This session is a practical entry point into making Open Science practices traceable, visible, and reportable.

4. Will the session include real case scenarios?expand collapse

Yes. The trainer will guide participants through live examples using real CONNECT Gateways to illustrate how different communities—such as research disciplines, university alliances, and infrastructures, have adopted CONNECT to improve discovery, compliance, and institutional visibility. Scenarios will focus on challenges like showcasing funded outputs, supporting researcher engagement, and demonstrating impact.

5. Is this session technical or more user-oriented?expand collapse

The session is fully user-oriented and does not require any technical background. All demonstrations will be accessible through a web browser, with clear instructions and contextual explanations. The focus is on showing how to use the service, not how to configure or build it.

6. Will materials or tools be provided for later use?expand collapse

Yes. All session materials, including slides, links to live Gateways, and additional guides, will be shared with participants. The session will also walk through openly accessible CONNECT documentation and resources for future reference.

7. How do I get started with the webpage builderexpand collapse

The trainer will showcase examples from multiple real-world Gateways to reflect different community types: Neuroscience Gateway (Scilake project): a thematic community case Aurora Universities Network Research Gateway: a university alliance case DARAH Gateway: a research infrastructure case Participants are encouraged to explore other Gateways aligned with their domain via: https://connect.openaire.eu/communities.html
