Find out more about this session

1. What is the focus of this session?expand collapse

This is a train-the-trainer session aimed at helping educators and RDM professionals reuse and adapt FAIR Research Data Management (RDM) training materials developed by the PATTERN project. It introduces ready-to-use live and self-paced materials and supports reflection on how they can be integrated into your own training.

2. Who should attend this session?expand collapse

Anyone involved in designing or delivering training on FAIR or Open Science – especially trainers, instructors, and institutional RDM support staff – will benefit from learning how to reuse, adapt, and share training resources. This session is a very useful FAIR walkthrough for early career data stewards that want to dive into with training material for self enrollment.

3. What does Project-Based Learning offer in this context?expand collapse

The PBL use cases offer practical examples from diverse disciplines that help participants and students engage with FAIR principles through real-world problem-solving. They’re ideal for making RDM training more applied and relevant.

4. What will I learn about eLearning and OpenPlato?expand collapse

You’ll get a short tour of OpenPlato’s eLearning modules, where self-paced courses support both beginner and intermediate-level learners. These modules complement live training and allow for flexible engagement.

5. What do I gain from this session?expand collapse

While not a technical session, it is highly interactive. You’ll participate in an icebreaker, a guided tour of materials, and a closing discussion where you can reflect on your needs and how these resources could fit your training goals. This session offers a self paced course that you can complete in asynchronous mode and claim personalized certificate as well.

6. How have we made our training materials FAIRexpand collapse

We have ensured that our training materials themselves are reusable, accessible, and well-documented. You’ll reflect on how your own materials can be improved and how to contribute to the open training ecosystem. In the session we explore how this relates to the formalised ‘FAIR-by-design Methodology in training materials approach’.

7. Is this session part of the certification path?expand collapse

This is an open session, not required for certification, but it is highly recommended for trainers and mentors who want to support others or contribute to peer-learning activities on Day 4 of the Bootcamp.
