Find out more about this session

1. What is the main focus of this session?expand collapse

This session offers a guided introduction to the OpenAIRE Catalogue of Services, with a focus on how these tools support every stage of the research data lifecycle. Participants will explore how OpenAIRE services respond to real challenges in research monitoring, metadata quality, repository management, and open science policy implementation, with special emphasis on their practical value for data stewards and RDM professionals.

2. Who is this session for?expand collapse

The session is designed for early-career data stewards, RDM support staff, repository managers, and Open Science enablers who want to understand how OpenAIRE’s services can integrate into day-to-day workflows. It’s also relevant for institutions and projects seeking evidence-based research tracking and data-driven decision-making.

4. What will I learn during the session?expand collapse

Participants will: a. Discover the structure and navigation of the OpenAIRE Catalogue b. Understand which services align with which research lifecycle stages (e.g. planning, publishing, assessing impact) c. Learn how services like Validator, Monitor, Graph, CONNECT, and UsageCounts can solve practical challenges for data stewards d. Get familiar with indicators, metadata standards, and interoperability practices embedded in the services.

5. Will there be hands-on interaction?expand collapse

This session provides a guided, interactive tour of the OpenAIRE Catalogue and its services. While it won’t require technical setup, participants will be encouraged to explore live service pages, reflect on their institutional use cases, and take note of follow-up bootcamp sessions where they can dive deeper into individual tools.

6. Why is this useful for data stewards?expand collapse

Data stewards are increasingly responsible for ensuring data quality, supporting FAIR adoption, and connecting institutional efforts to broader infrastructures. The OpenAIRE Catalogue equips them with trusted services that are aligned with European standards and are already used across thousands of institutions. Knowing how to use them empowers stewards to improve workflows, support researchers, and provide measurable value to their institutions.

7. How can I continue using these services after the session?expand collapse

All OpenAIRE services are accessible through the online catalogue. This session will provide you with direct links, usage examples, and follow-up resources. Several services will be covered in detail in the coming bootcamp sessions, giving you the opportunity to get hands-on experience and practical skills.
