Admissions

  • Who is this programme designed for?

The programme is designed for policymakers, research managers, funders, university staff, data stewards, librarians, and professionals involved in Open Science policy, implementation, monitoring, and governance.

  • Do I need previous Open Science experience?

You do not need to be an Open Science expert. However, the selection process will consider your current experience, skills, and motivation, especially how your role connects to Open Science policy, monitoring, evaluation, or implementation.

  • Is there a selection process?

Yes. Applications are reviewed based on motivation, professional background, and relevance to the programme objectives. Applications are also reviewed against the programme criteria, including your role, policy or monitoring plans for the next 12 months, level of engagement with Open Science policy, relevant experience, motivation, and alignment with the programme learning objectives. All selected participants will receive an email confirmation and relevant instructions.

  • Will participants receive a certificate?

Yes. Participants who complete the programme activities and final outputs will receive a certificate of participation.

Training Programme

  • How is the programme organised?

The programme combines: - intensive live sessions, - policy development weeks, - expert consultations, and follow-up implementation support.

  • What are the main phases of the programme?

a. Phase 1 — Intensive Programme b. Phase 2 — One-to-One Implementation Support c. Phase 3 — Collective Reflection and experience

  • What are the expected participant's learning outputs?

Participants will develop: a. Stakeholder Map Policy or Monitoring Framework Draft b. Leadership Pitch c. a 6-Month Action Plan

  • Is the programme theoretical or practical?

The programme is strongly practice-oriented and includes workshops, policy drafting, peer learning, and implementation planning.

Sessions & Scedule

  • When does the programme take place?

a. Days 1–2: 2–3 June b. Policy Development Weeks: 4–22 June c. Days 3–4: 23–24 June

  • What time are the live sessions?

Live sessions run from 09:30–13:00 CET, online with the provided zoom links.

  • Will sessions be recorded?

Selected sessions and learning materials may be available through the OpenPlato platform.

  • How much time should participants dedicate weekly?

Participants should expect live sessions plus independent policy development work during the programme weeks.

Learning Experience

  • What topics are covered?

Topics include: - Open Science policy - Research assessment reform - FAIR and infrastructure governance - Responsible AI - Legal and ethical dimensions - Monitoring and impact assessment - Sustainability and implementation strategies

  • Will there be group activities?

Yes. Participants engage in peer-learning exercises, stakeholder mapping, collaborative discussions, and feedback sessions.

  • Is there experts and mentors support?

Yes. Participants can access optional one-to-one consultations with Open Science experts during the development phase.

  • Is the programme international?

Yes. The programme is designed around European and international Open Science frameworks and policy practices

  • Which platform supports the programme?

The programme is supported by the OpenPlato Moodle e-learning platform with access to the selected participants. Assesments & Training Materials are shared via the platform even after the end of the programme.

  • Will participants stay connected after the programme?
expand collapse

Yes. A collective reflection and experience-sharing session takes place in January 2027 to support continued collaboration and learning.
