OpenPlato LMS

OpenPlato platform (www.openplato.eu)is a comprehensive Learning Management System and training catalogue developed and operated by ICM/University of Warsaw,

the OpenAIRE office, and the OpenAIRE Support and Training Standing Committee. Funded by OpenAIRE, it aspires to become the central hub for training in Research Data Management (RDM), Open Science, and the FAIR principles across Europe and internationally. OpenPlato is built on Moodle, enhanced with catalogue functionality, and designed for flexibility, multilingual support, and structured content organization. Its alignment with global training metadata standards, like the RDA ETHRD IG recommendations, ensures interoperability and discoverability across training ecosystems. As part of OpenAIRE’s long-standing mission to support Open Science, OpenPlato reflects over a decade of expertise, infrastructure investment, and a vast training network that spans 40+ countries.

The platform supports multilingual theme and country based training communities, allowing users to navigate and organize content effectively according to their needs.

Smart Catalogue

Open Plato features a structured training catalogue using minimal metadata from RDA ETHRD IG, ensuring easy alignment, discovery, and reuse of training materials across platforms.

Infrastructure

Powered by OpenAIRE and supported by ICM's infrastructure, OpenPlato builds on over a decade of training experience, technical leadership and contributions to key Open Science initiatives and open infrastructures like EOSC.
