How to use


Welcome to OpenPlato! This guide gives you an overview of how to get started, navigate the platform, and make the most of your learning experience. OpenPlato is built on Moodle v4.5, offering a streamlined interface, improved navigation, and enhanced accessibility features. While we are preparing tailored video tutorials, you can refer to the official Moodle 4.5 documentation for detailed guidance on using the platform.




Course Access

From the homepage, you’ll see featured courses and updates. Click “See all courses” to browse the full public catalogue. Courses may be self-paced or tied to scheduled sessions (e.g., moderated or classroom-based). Courses are categorized by theme, project, or Open Science initiative, and include metadata following RDA standards, including country/region of origin for contextual relevance.

Login & Profile

OpenPlato is being integrated with the EOSC EU Node a European platform and information gateway to explore, engage, and enrich your research collaborations. This will allow you to log in using the same credentials you use for other EOSC services, providing seamless access across the research ecosystem. You may also use a private email to register if your institution is not yet connected. Once registered, visit your Profile (top-right menu) to adjust your time zone, ensuring accurate scheduling for time-specific courses. Logging in enables progress tracking, certification, and badge collection. 

Dashboard 

After logging in, your Dashboard is your personalized learning space, showing enrolled or in-progress courses, updates, and peer/teacher interactions. You can customize it to manage multiple courses. Once enrolled, each Course Page displays content like topics, activities, announcements, and interactive elements. Need help? Use the “Help and documentation” link at the bottom of any page for context-specific support.
