Assessing Open Access Books: Shedding Light on Peer Review with PRISM
OPERAS is the Research Infrastructure supporting open scholarly communication in the social sciences and humanities (SSH) in the European Research Area. Its mission is to coordinate and federate resources in Europe to efficiently address the scholarly communication needs of European researchers in the field of SSH.
The Peer Review Information Service for Monographs (PRISM) gives publishers the opportunity to display information about their peer review procedures in a standardised way as part of the book’s metadata in the Directory of Open Access Books. PRISM contributes to building trust in Open Access book publishing by improving transparency around the quality assurance process.

GraspOS webinar with OPERAS to learn about the Peer Review Information Service for Monographs (PRISM). PRISM aims to enhance trust in Open Access book publishing through increased transparency in the peer review process, offering publishers a standardised platform to display their peer-review procedures, integrate metadata, ultimately building trust in Open Access book publishing. We will also discuss how PRISM could be used in research assessment.
