Synthetic data is data artificially generated by programmatic means. It is commonly based on real data and used in Artificial Intelligence to increase the amount of data used for training purposes. Synthetic data could be used, for instance, instead of (or in addition to) anonymized data about patients and treatments (i.e., clinical data).
